2. SAME ARGH. I really want to develop a different style, but it always winds up being animu. It's a lot harder than one would think to move from one style to another, and even harder when you really, really want to. There are some anime/manga artists I do make exceptions for, however (Katsuhiro Otomo and Kentaro Miura immediately come to mind) who have a unique enough style that I wouldn't mind trying to model my own after.

12. Signed. I know everyone has their own style and I'm not going to stop them from sticking with it...but I'd be lying if I said a majority of the icon styles of today are awesome. (also, I love that if you don't like a certain style that "you're just hating them because they're just trends!" haha no. I just hate them cos they're fucking boring. :/)
