1. As much as I'd love to agree with you, I really hate romanticized notion of piracy. Yes, Johnny Depp (as Jack Sparrow) is hawt, but until you've read Marcus Rediker, know who William Fly is, and understand the dialectic of the Golden Age of piracy you really shouldn't go around proclaiming the almighty awesomeness being a pirate.

They usually end up living less than two years. =/

Have you read Under the Black Flag: The Romance and the Reality of Life... (I can't remember the full title)? I'm seconding the dislike of romanticized pirates because they've fascinated me since years before PotC and One Piece.

Hell, I did a presentation with two girls in my class in 1997 (5th grade) about Anne Bonny, Mary Read, and Calico Jack. It was fun.

I hadn't even seen the Pirates films until.. two weeks ago really. I just love the romantisied outfits though. I know very well that in reality it was nothing like that though.
