Me, too, OP, me too. I mean, I can enjoy graphics that use one of each kind of wing or one black feather/one white feather as symbolism, but can't stand seeing a 'demon' wing actually attached to Crowley.

Honestly, I always pictured them both with multicolour-feathered wings, because of Art History. In a lot of old religious art, a human figure with white feathered wings was a saint, and one with coloured wings was an angel, and that kind of just... carried over.

Me too! I always imagined Aziraphale with wings of grey and blue, and Crowley with green and gold.

Multicolored wings for the win!

White wings on Aziraphale are just as much fanon as black ones on Crowley; the book doesn't mention color at all. I see angels as having really varied multicolored plumage and the patterns are as individual as a fingerprint.

In my head, Aziraphale's are largely blue and cream and gold; Crowley's are red and charcoal and copper....obviously there's a lot of room for YMMV here, and that's the beauty of it.

It's true that nothing's mentioned in the text, but in the Corgi (British) edition there's some art in each chapter, and it draws Crowley with black wings and Aziraphale with white (with the wings looking the same other than the colour). So although I wouldn't call it hard canon due to the lack of a mention in the text, I can't say that there is no basis for it or that it's mere fanon.

I know exactly what you mean, because I have that edition too, and the pics are there (although, since they're black-and-white woodcuts, they're obviously working with a limited palette).

But the black/white wing thing is one of the things that the secret-poster OP was objecting to! Take it up with hir, not me!

I did not know that about the old religious art! This is really interesting, thank you for sharing.

But in the book, if I recall correctly, it says same TYPE and not same COLOUR, right? I took that to mean they all have large feathery wings, and I haaate black leathery batlike wings. However, I also think that many demons, post-Fall, would have intentionally chosen to change or disfigure their wings - changing colour somehow, making it look leathery or ragged - because it would have been a reminder of Heaven, if untouched.

Personally I think that angels and demons all have the same type of wings, large and feathery, but that the colour varies from being to being. I think Aziraphale's appear a soft, creamy off-white at first glance, kind of like vellum or maybe parchment, not pure snowy white, and there are hints of pale blue and gold barring on the feathers here and there. (And my role-play character, Gabriel, has blue-white wings - mostly soft white but with a tinge of blue; my other character Belial, meanwhile, has wings that look like tarnished, blackened silver) Crowley's, I think, are fully black (more because it's stylish and sleek than because it's evil), but there are different shades of black and I think those are evident in his wings.

I think I was highly influenced by the woodcuts in my edition of GO, though (see my icon XD).

Ooh, I didn't know that about the colours... I may have to start using that in my own stuff. Thanks for sharing that!
