I don't dislike Amy, but I'm sad I can't get too invested in her. This the first time I've preferred the Doctor to the companion, which might also stem from how much I love Eleven.

I do like the fairy tale quality to her storylines, but I wish there was just more there there, for me.

I'm iffy about Amy. I loved her before she tried to snog the Doctor and Rory started travelling with them, and then I actively disliked her for a period, but I think I'm starting to warm up to her again. I'm one of the few people who loves River Song, though. =/

Ugh yeah. I'm neutral on River at the moment but if she turns out to be Jack, I would not be happy. There are some characters I would more than like her turning out to be but making her Jack would be hella problematic

I wish people would stop saying she's a great actress. Guys, she's really, really, really not.
I love Karen, I love Amy, but seriously, she's just pretty bad at acting.

IDK, I don't think she's that bad. I don't think she's going to win an Oscar or anything (Oscar gags aside), but I find her enthusiasm for the job and general joy whenever I see her in interviews/BTS stuff very endearing, and I think some of that affection for Karen has transferred into affection for Amy for me, more than the actual writing of the character. I realize that's a bit of a different beast than acting itself, but still, credit where it's due, that's Karen Gillan.

I agree. Karen's all kinds of adorable, but I really don't think she can act all that well [probably just needs experience]...which may be the reason why [apart from the writing? :¬}], to be honest, I loathe Amy Pond.

I don't dislike Amy but I feel sort of similarly. I like her, but not too much more beyond that. I want to really love her the way I'm used to really loving companions, but it didn't really happen for me in s5. I still feel like I don't really "get" Amy Pond and anything I do "get" is just conjecture and not necessarily what's actually meant to be there on screen. I guess some people like that freedom, but it just makes me kind of flail helplessly when it comes to interpreting a character.

They haven't really touched on Amy in a real way. We've been getting glimpses of her, but not nearly as deeply as we did with most of the other companions. I still like her, but I see what you mean.

I believe it's Moffat's weakness in characterization because this is kind of how I felt about all the characters in series 5. I like them all well enough but didn't make any intense connections.

This. Moffat goes for plot over characterization and emotional resonance, which are the two things I NEED to have in a show - the plot can go to hell for all I care.

Like, I like Eleven, adore Rory, and am fine with Amy, but mostly, I just don't really care what happens, which is different with how I felt about the characters in S1-S4, because I was so invested in those characters.

I'm hoping it's better in S6.

THIS. is exactly why I liked RTD's writing more and could never hop onto the Moffat bandwagon, I just couldn't ever make as much of a connection to the characters since they just weren't as developed as Rusty's.

Who is Amy Pond? I don't know yet, so i don't like or dislike her she's just a meh character to me, won't miss her when she's gone.

Instead of having any helpful qualities, Amy was just adds more (unneeded) whimsy and craziness to the Doctor. I get that she's really excited to be a companion but she's just so immature. Both Rory and 11 only enable her further.

It's the odd personality of Amy's I find so irritating.

There's no balance. Rory is the straightman of the group, which is why fans like him so much. Amy and 11th make a bad combination; Amy needs some fucking growing up.

I don't even want to get into how I feel about Amy Pond (short story: I don't like her), but what I'm interested in discussing is how long Moffat plans on keeping Amy and Rory around. Amy's characterization is going nowhere fast and though I adore Rory, I can easily see any character plotlines he ever had getting stuck now that we've moved past that whole "Amy's choice" thing. I'm afraid of him becoming even more of a third wheel. Also I'd like to see some more experienced actors work with Smith.
I like River and wouldn't mind seeing her get more screentime and scale back a bit on Mr. and Mrs. Pond, but I'd be even more excited about fresh faces.

lol, I feel a bit guilty for how much I hope Amy and Rory leave at the end of s6. It's not that I don't like them, because I do, but I'm very used to the fresh-face aspect of New Who and I think two seasons with the same principle cast is enough and come s7 it would be nice to see some new companions. Amy and Rory can cameo like the others did, but I'd like a new primary companion plz. Plus, the rotating cast creates suspense in the finales -- it was hard for me to get worked up during The Big Bang when I knew that neither Matt nor Karen were leaving, whereas in every previous finale there was that sense of "OMG how will they write out ___?? WHAT WILL HAPPEN???" It doesn't have to be a sad ending, I just have to be worried that something could happen to the characters. And I would really like to see how Eleven a) deals with the Ponds leaving and b) interacts with a new companion/new companions.
