Wow. I can't say that I have NO sympathy for you, OP, but I think this is seriously creepytown. Am I really the only one?

It's one think to try and rekindle an old friendship over a new fandom, but doing that while pretending to be a new friend? Hell no. D: Maybe it's because I know someone this happened to. They had a falling out with a friend, and then weeks later that friend came back pretending to be a new person ... and it was extremely noticeable who it was, and it skeeved us all right the hell out.

But at least you're enjoying your new fandom?

I think it's a different thing when you have an actual falling out - I'm assuming this was some kind of fight, with harsh words spoken? - versus just drifting apart. And this was over a year later. People get new usernames, and it's not like OP went out and commented on their journal and fics. They put fics out there and hoped their friend would notice. That's what makes it not-creeptown to me.

I think it's creepy too. I mean... imagine a "new" friendship had formed, and eventually it would all come out. 'Oh, I knew who you were all along but I pretended to be someone else on purpose, creating this alter-ego specifically to appeal to you.'

IA. Maybe it's because I'm jaded, but I had an ex-fandom friend who turned out to be a super creep and lied about their personal information and identity just to be "buddy buddy" with me. I still get the willies thinking about it.

OP, instead of going through all these lengths of pretending to be someone you're not, send a damn PM. If they don't respond back to it, it's a sign you need to move on.

I don't want to sound harsh, but really...
