I love them. I agree, I think they had the strongest bond of any two characters in the series, though I don't see it as romantic (but I get why people do). I think it's heartbreaking to imagine Sirius finding the Potter house a wreck and finding James and Lily dead... and then having to relive it for years in Azkaban. :(

I also don't get why people think Lily and Snape were ever that close... it started out pretty rocky (Snape was sort of the thorn in Lily and Petunia's relationship at that point), and it only went downhill when they went to Hogwarts. They stopped being friendly whatsoever by the age of 16, and they probably never interacted after that.

They WERE close, though, weren't they? It didn't go downhill the moment they entered Hogwards, though it did start going downhill for some time before he finally called her Mudblood (don't know when he started hanging around future Death Eaters). She defended him up until then, but before that they were close friends...

....

It's what I think anyway.
