The Marauders' story in general is pretty tragic. I can't say I ship Sirius/James though.

I'm still not sure of Sirius's sexuality. But just to note, it is possible to have very strong affection that doesn't relate to romantic or sexual feelings.
But yeah, I do cry every time I read PoA because of Sirius's pain over James.

I love them. I agree, I think they had the strongest bond of any two characters in the series, though I don't see it as romantic (but I get why people do). I think it's heartbreaking to imagine Sirius finding the Potter house a wreck and finding James and Lily dead... and then having to relive it for years in Azkaban. :(

I also don't get why people think Lily and Snape were ever that close... it started out pretty rocky (Snape was sort of the thorn in Lily and Petunia's relationship at that point), and it only went downhill when they went to Hogwarts. They stopped being friendly whatsoever by the age of 16, and they probably never interacted after that.

It didn't go downhill the moment they entered Hogwards, though it did start going downhill for some time before he finally called her Mudblood (don't know when he started hanging around future Death Eaters). She defended him up until then, but before that they were close friends...

I don't find it sexy or romantic, but I definitely agree with the other adjectives. I find those two and their friendship infinitely more interesting than Snape/Lily.

If you mean romantically then it's definitely not canon. But I do think it's one of the most enduring relationships (I can't ship them romantically after Lily, since I don't personally think Lily would put up with anyone on the side, but before I could see it). But considering the information we get about either of them, I'm still going to say more than half of that is in your head...canon.

Oh, no, I love them too. I mean, Remus/Sirius totally dominates my heart, but the two of them are so charmingly similar, and besides, he switched to being their Secret-Keeper because he thought Voldemort would "be sure to come after [him]" and not James. I mean, holy shit, that's some serious love there. Just imagining how Sirius felt when he went to their house that night...ugh. UGH, MY HEART

Agreed—I'm R/S all the way, but I get J/S. I would LOVE a pre-series book, all about the Marauders... I think their story would be equally as interesting. But so much more tragic. I'm not sure I could handle it. :(

I'm intensely fond of their relationship and I think they had a stronger bond than many of the actual romantic pairings in the series. (I mostly ship it bromance-style, but I have read my share of slashfic!) Where's that pic from, btw?

I don't have much to add since I deleted all my old bookmarks but I do have two awesome fics. This (http://community.livejournal.com/rs_small_gifts/37973.html) one (Map of the Problematique by tygress) is more of a general MWPP fic with R/S and J/L as the main pairings but it is amazing and has some awesome James/Sirius scenes. And this (http://community.livejournal.com/padfootnprongs/79088.html) one (Next Time by graceland428, which is an NC-17 fic. It's not really what I'm into anymore (the over-use of British colloquialism in particular), but it's pretty hot.
