Hm. I was never one for anything rated past R myself, but if I recall the early days of HP fandom, many of the people writing/drawing the porny stuff were teens themselves. Is it still pedophilia?

And then, of course, there are the people who prefer to explore the relationships of the characters once they were adults, because adults relate to one another differently than teenagers do.

Please, with an egotistical secret like this ('I know it's going to turn out well and maybe even be popular oh pretty pretty please I want the popular crowd to like me'), you are BEGGING for all the spite you're getting in these comments.

Am I? All I've done is be confident in what I've made. Better that then telling everyone it sucked. You come off as really jealous here.

Please, honey! I know authors and published writers; some who have had success and some who haven't. NONE of them wrote their works thinking 'Oh this is good but I just know it's going to be such a big hit that the slash writers will find it and hurt it'. It's that attitude that makes you sound egotistical.

You can be proud of your work and even confident about it. But worrying about a fandom that may or may not happen sounds big headed. Worry about jumping through all the hoops you'll need to get through to get published and then we can talk about a hypothetical fandom.

Maybe I am being a little paranoid. I just know that if I saw my work on this site, I probably wouldn't like it, is all.

Okay, OP, since you keep screaming about pedophiles in all the comments, why don't you tell us how old your characters are?

Because you've been crying about pedophiles all along but we know nothing about your characters. So why don't you actually try sharing about about your novel instead of whining about a fandom that doesn't exist yet?

They're teenagers. As in, under the age of eighteen. I'm pretty sure I've said that somewhere. I just think that viewing teenagers as sexual objects is wrong. Legally, morally, and tactfully wrong. Well, it's bad to do that for everyone else, but more so for children.

Honey, age of consent varies across the board. So, unless your characters are like fourteen (and therefore totally accessible to aged-up stories) you're going to have a hard time making the "But they're CHILDREN" card stick.

...But, they ARE children? I really don't personally buy the "age of consent" debate, because, you know, they're still in high school. Where I'm from, people who have sex with teenagers are either pedos, deranged, or huge rednecks. And, I'm pretty sure most people will agree with me.

Curiously enough, most of the traditionally "redneck" states have an age of consent of 18, in case you were curious. And all statistics concern male/female sex, and are from http://www.avert.org/age-of-consent.htm.

So, it's still ok to have sex with children, even though they don't know what they want or even if they like sex? Just because it's technically within the bounds of the law doesn't mean it's ok. Having morals is what separates us from the apes.

High school? Oh, honey. Oh, sweetie. No matter what the laws of the state/country may be, sex happens in high school.

I went to a private Catholic high school. And there was sex going on even there.

NEWS FLASH THAT WILL BLOW YOUR MIND: High schoolers have sex!

Plus, you make it sound like your so-called fans are going to have sex with yor characters. They're not; they're just going to pair them up together. And that's okay. I think YOUR FICTIONAL CHARACTERS will survive the trama.

Also, 'redneck' is a rude term, if not outright offensive. Knock it off.

shipping =/= sex. For me, shipping mostly= thinking two characters would be a good/cute/entertaining couple based on their personalities and interactions with each other. I mean, yes, there is a LOT of sex in fanfiction, but oftentimes, it's when the characters are aged up.
