Yeah, I'm kinda surprised at the responses here too. It's a manga with hope as it's main theme, but I can understand if people here are wondering why this secret needed to exist in the first place. Way too soon, OP. :/

I don't blame you at all. I was reminded of CLAMP's X. There are a number of earthquake/disaster manga out there because it is a nightmare scenario that might well happen (and has in the past: the great Kanto earthquake in 1923, the Kobe one in 1995).

Replying anon because yes, it is horrible and too soon. But I felt the same way.
