I see more for the latter in youtube and the former in forums. They are stupid in different ways. That's why I wish that to stop.

You can do that, but both are canon. Play Triagle video game or watch the Nyan Nyan Clip. It's combining them and retconning Ranka's and Sheryl's characterizations to fit their movie selves. Because it's the way Kawamori wrote them and he has the final say in the Macross Franchise. It happened with Flashback 2012 and the original Macross.

Um yeah, I know. I just don't care about the movies. I enjoyed the series a lot more, and I liked that it left the triangle open. So I want to enjoy the franchise the way I like best.

The movies won't go away because you want to in the Franchise.

Kawamori wrote them, kept a tight leash on them and the man wasn't pleased with the non resolution of the TV series.

There are high chances that are that he's going to get the rid of most of the tv series continuity in the next stop of the franchise (the Ride?). I'm not too pleased because I liked Grace as the Big Bad and, unfortunately, it seems she is only an innocent victim now.

I'm not denying that the movies exist, I just don't care about them. Just like I never cared about Zero, or like I enjoyed 7, the show everyone seems to love to hate and pretend it doesn't exist. And I don't particularly care about whether Kawamori was pleased or not. I liked the way the series ended. I think it was a nice touch, regardless of the real or imagined reasons behind it. I like Kawamori, I like most of his works, but his opinion ultimately has no effect on my enjoyment.

I don't really see why you should care...?
