That's why I like that Rory's there. I get that the Doctor's relationship with his companion is central to the show, but Rose, Martha, Donnna, and Jack were so intensley attached to the Doctor and three out of four of them were romantically interested in him. It's nice to see a companion love someone else just as much if not more. It's a change of pace and I love it. Just an opinion.

Also, the Doctor has had 2 or 3 companions (Victoria and Jamie, Susan and the two teachers, Adric, Tegan and Nyssa etc) before. Rory is a companion, more so now that he's not competing with the Doctor anymore.

True, having more than one constant companion is another reason I'm liking the setup. We get more dynamics and different interactions out of Rory being there.
