Did Hojo actually get portrayed differently or did I miss something? He was always an evil bastard who got his girlfriend pregnant with Jenova's child and then left her to decidedly follow said child so he could watch the world fall into chaos. Was there a difference?

It wasn't story expansion. It blatantly contradicted canon from the original game =\

Also his voice acting was atrocious, and they completely ignored the fact that Hojo was probably around thirty at the time, not sixty-five. This is, of course, not even touching the present-day Weiss bullshit they slung onto him.

I am a Vincent player, and the last thing I ever try to do is make Hojo a sympathetic character, but good lord did they rape that previously pretty nifty character.

Yeah, but in DoC he was kind of ridiculously evil. In the game he's sort of evilly badass...and in DoC he might as well have been tying Lucrecia to the train tracks while twirlling his mustache. XD Srsly.
