I'm a Christian, and I'm open about it online because it is a part of my life, but I think a lot of Christians give the religion a bad name by being against gay rights and intolerant in general. It's not necessarily the religion, it's the people who take the Bible too literally and spread hatred for no reason. They give other Christians a bad name, and that's why there is a lot of hate against religion in fandom.
I just can't stand intolerance, whether it's due to religious beliefs or something else. But I think if you are a tolerant person, and religious, you can be open without getting your ass handed to you for no reason.
It's wrong for people to judge you for being religious, because they are being hypocritical by doing so. I think that if you can't admit to your friends your faith without being looked down upon, they aren't really your friends at all.
