I think that's a pretty common thing. Fear not. XD

I just posted a prompt to a kink meme yesterday and then thought 'Fuck it! I wanna fill it!' And I plan on doing just that in the near future. I don't see any problem with that.

I get the feeling. I ship a rather unpopular pairing so I end up writing my fics myself :/

I've never understood people who filled their own prompts, especially the ones who do it while de-anoning. If you're not anon you have a goddamn LJ so go post your personal stories here and write stuff for other people instead.

as someone who does this? for me it's just that most times when i prompt, it's when i've thought of an awesome story idea that i don't have time to write, and i'm hoping someone else will pick it up so i can read it... then, if no one has picked it up by the time i have a free slot in my writing schedule, then i'll end up going back to it and writing it myself

*shrugs*

i don't see anything wrong with that... at least i'm writing *something*

I don't de-anon as a rule of thumb, but I've filled my own prompts because I figure I may as well. It's like an, "OH WAIT I accidentally mused myself and I totally know where to take this idea. brb TO THE WORD PROCESSOR!" moment.

Nothing wrong with anyone who unanons either, imo. Especially if the meme in question is lax about it. Some people want credit, to track comments, or whatever feels valid to them.

well, it's a bit crass if you prompt and then immediately fill. But if you prompt and then ... crickets... and eventually you get around to getting an idea, why not. The prompt is still there for other people to fill, too, but for all the people who read the prompted and wanted someone to fill, hey, prompter is someone!

Actually, I'm just pro-participation on kinkmemes. The more fills the better, even if you are filling your own.

I wish I could do this. Then more of my prompts would get filled.

I did that once. It had been ages and I actually wrote the fic for something else, then realised it filled the prompt and I might as well post it there.
Though I do think that posting prompts just so you can fill them yourself would be a bit silly. Unless it's something really embarrassing, I guess.

I wish I could but I couldn't write porn if my life depended on it. I can tell you, if I could there would be a lot more sexy fun times for the pair in my icon.

Sometimes I feel as if I'm doing the world a disservice by not being able to write fic and draw fan art. There'd be such an influx of smut!
