It's a matter of personal taste. Personally, the tropes said it best that they're more straight camp hetero life partners than a couple in a physically intimate relationship. I can see the potential in the pairing but I personally don't ship it. I see them more like brothers than lovers.

I'm definitely with you on the "Roxanne who?" bit. Every time I watch the movie I find her character to be more and more distasteful, to the point where I pretty much want Megamind to be with anybody else. And yes, I think Minion is one of those options. They are just too precious together!

What is distasteful about her character?

She's a girl, duh. /sarcasm

But seriously, I don't know. She was a nosy reporter type, but she also a) didn't date the hero and b) believed in the bad guy. Maybe it was the fact that she was a snarky female character (tm) that bothers people so much, but seriously? I think a lot of people look for reasons to dislike her.

It's because Roxanne was a snarky female character--- and nothing else. A spunky but hollow archetype. And in a movie that bent over backwards to make her look smart and brave and capable, she still ended up as a damsel in distress, so what was even the point?

Plus I think she's a total bitch. XD

To show that even smart, brave, capable people can be in distress sometimes? You don't have to be stupid, cowardly or incompetent to need help when it comes to supervillains?

People will bitch, whine and complain about anything and everything.

Plus, I think she was without a doubt the most heroic of any of them.

Metroman wanted the fame but not the responsibility, and felt trapped.
Metroman wanted the girl, and the popularity.
Titan wanted the girl.

Roxanne was the only one who attempted to save the city because it needed saving, for God's sake. Since I find her a rare good female character, it annoys me to see so many people ignore her for whatever reason. :|

Roxanne was one of the most unselfish characters in the movie. How, in any way, was she a "total bitch"?

I think she treats the men in the movie like tools.

I'm not going to try and convince anyone to "see it my way" or whatever, because my way is fucked up. She might be the best and most awesome character on the planet. She just bugs the crap out of me because of personal experience with bitches who have the gall to pretend like you used to be friends when they need something from you.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it! :D

Although I don't actually ship the pairing, I was also disappointed that Megamind ended up with Roxanne, as much as I liked her character. I had been hoping desperately for an unabashedly flamboyantly gay hero in a mainstream family film.

Who? I'm not caught up on television at all but I'm curious now.

The character in question is Larry 3000 from Time Squad, as pictured on the icon. The program itself is ten years old and off the air, so following television series wouldn't help you learn about it.
The whole series has a homosexual ambiance to it. Think of Schoolhouse Rock as written by a gay teenage science fiction fan who spent much of his childhood watching Rocky and Bullwinkle. I made a video (http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xhxnkr_time-squad-the-most-homoerotic-kids-show-ever_fun) demonstrating some of the gay content.

I don't ship it, but I will still looks at pics of it and read the occasional fic xD People ship it on the comm and even if they don't can still love it, so don't feel embarrassed.

Normally I ship the hell out of odd slash pairings, but I liked Roxanne so much as a character that I couldn't help but ship it. Sorry, fandom!

(Also, I now understand what those "the het is drowned in a million slash fics!" fans are complaining about.)

the more i hear about this fandom, the more i don't want to be involved. you know there's something wrong when people would rather pair the main character with a sentient fish instead of the main female.

To be fair, Megamind and Minion have one of the most brilliant and hilarious bromances I've ever seen. I don't ship it, but Minion is an excellent character, sentient fish in a robot gorilla suit or not.
