I really doubt the Joker cares about mundane matters like what genitals the person he's screwing has, so I agree. I don't see any writers having a huge problem with this interpretation either, especially given stuff like this:

I came here just to mention this.

Granted, AA:SHoSE isn't exactly part of the "main" batman canon (Has anything that Morrison has written been part of the main canon? I know he did Batman and Son and SHoSE) but the annotated script in the back of the collectors edition clearly states that Morrison wrote the Joker as definitely being sexually ambiguous.


Hell, the whole comic is full of all sorts of fucked up expressions of sexuality. The joker first appears dressed up in a corset and fishnets, there's the whole anthony perkins thing going on the background, the Amadeus Arkham story...

While I agree that the writers wouldn't have an issue with a non-straight interpretation of the Joker, the wording of this comment really bothers me.

The genitals of the person you are screwing isn't really a "mundane" concern. There are people who are legitimately only attracted to people of one sex. This makes it seem like you're saying that anyone who's 100% gay or 100% straight is mundane. Or overly concerned with details or something, but that's not true. Sexual attraction is not something that you create, it's not a concern about how you'll be perceived, or how you want to appear to others. It's not mundane, it's just who you are.

Maybe the next time I meet an attractive gay man, I should just tell him to stop caring about mundane details like my vagina... I'm sure that will work out well.

Oh no, didn't mean to imply that at all. I am bi, but perfectly understand that people are attracted to whatever they're attracted. I meant that specifically the Joker wouldn't really care or make a huge thing out of his sexual partner's gender.
