Actually if you were to ask him what his sexuality was I don't think he'd even understand the question. Then he'd cut you from ear to ear, or possibly draw on you with a crayon, to the Joker there really isn't a difference.

I get what you mean. I'm no expert in Batman canon, but from everything I've seen, Joker is so beyond sanity, classifying him in a traditional way feels impossible. I personally see him more as a sadist. There are real life sadistic serial killers who have no problem raping or even having consensual bdsm sex with a person of their own gender, dispate identifying as straight.

It's like you're saying that just because he lacks morality and doesn't gaf about society or/and its standards, he is more likely to be homosexual/bisexual/pansexual/etc than if he was a "morally correct" character. It's very problematic, you see?

I quite agree. I have a great fascination/love of sociopathic characters, him included, and I tend to assume that they'd fuck anything that took their fancy because they don't care at all about society's opinions and, you know, much about the other person as well. They're not gonna fall in love with anyone; it's really just about using other people. So why the hell would it just be someone of the opposite sex?

Yeeee-eaahh, this...comes off as implying that the Joker shouldn't be straight because he's weird. I know that's not how you meant it, but still.

I'm mostly reminded of the issue of Flash where Pied Piper came out of the closet (in fact, I think Piper was the first openly gay DC character). The whole thing happened because Wally was saying that he thought the Joker must be gay--for almost exactly the same reasons you gave. He then added that "you can always tell" with "people like that."

Piper says from what he's heard the Joker isn't gay--isn't anything but crazy and hurtful. Then he tells Wally he can't think of any gay supervillains. "Except for me. But you knew that already, didn't you?"

At any rate, implying that the Joker might not be straight is hardly a new thing, even in the comics. Read Azzarello's Joker. The subtext is but a word scramble from buttsex.
