I'm 5'3". I weigh 250lbs. I'm pushing 30. I go to concerts all the time. Fuck, I even make my way as close to the front as I can. And the only way I stand out is that I'm older than a lot of the people there - and even then, I've never once been the oldest. Or the fattest. Go and have fun. Use your put your feet down and push back against assholes in the pit.

Just go and enjoy the concert - it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks! Besides, people will want to watch the band rather than stare at other people in the audience, so don't feel self-conscious.

No one will give a shit about if someone in the audience has a little more weight (or even a lot more weight). I weigh 320 pounds, and I've gone to a lot of concerts. Never in the back! (Just on Saturday I was at the very front at a Guster/Jukebox the Ghost concert. I've also been at the very front for more youth oriented shows with ruder and more competitive audiences, like Fall Out Boy.)

I'm not gonna bullshit you and say that people don't care. I've seen the comments on the internet of people complaining about fat fans taking up extra room at concerts. Once some chick started berating me hardcore, because her boyfriend left the crowed between opener/headliner and I took his spot (which, fucking hello, is the rule of GA...deal with it). She told me that I was taking up a spot that two people could occupy. Not gonna lie, I got super upset. (I think she felt bad about it, because though she didn't apologize, she did try saying some nice things afterwards. Whatever.)

Anyway. My point: go anyway, and don't give a damn. It's one of the most amazing and cathartic things you can do. (Plus, if you're only 40 to 80 pounds overweight, most people won't care like they do about someone my size.)

if you're thinking you take up too much room... skinny people do that too when they trash around like idiots. i have been elbowed in the gut by people of all sizes. so just move about reasonably and you will be fine. oh also sweatiness. wear deo. that is another problem of people of all sizes. no one wants to feel someone's sweaty tits rubbing against their back

If you have a ticket, then you have just as much right to be there as anyone else. If you're not a disrespectful asshole, then even more. Fat girls at concerts are way more awesome than the dicks who like to shame them for going out and having a good time.

You say nobody wants to see you there. Well, when I go to a concert, mostly I'm there to look at the band- and when I do look at the other people in the audience? The ones that I feel good about are the people who are enjoying the show and are happy and aren't treating others badly. My opinion doesn't really matter since it's your life and your choices, but I'm just saying. There are plenty of people who aren't going to think any less of you for having fun.

Hell, look at all the positive comments here. Plenty of people support you going to a concert and enjoying yourself. I'm not going to say "don't feel bad about yourself anymore" because that's not really something that a person can just turn off, but you've got nothing to be ashamed of. I think so, and a lot of people here think so too.
