I only watched the unedited version, what did they do to the ending in the dub?

The final two episodes of the first season, with the violent deaths of all the inner senshi, was cut down to about 15 minutes of content out of apx 45.

Yeah, and there were two episodes that were completely cut from the first season. I can't remember what the numbers were, but they were early on. I think in one of them Usagi uses the Disguise pen to infiltrate a night club/strip club or something. I never saw them as I've only ever seen the censored version of the first series.

It must have been. I didn't realize so many had been cut. I thought it was just the three at the beginning.

Why the Minako backstory episode was cut, I have no idea.

Yeah someone threw a granade into a building while Sailor V was inside, maybe it was deemed to harsh for kids but I hate how censors underestimate children, I watched this stuff at age 7 just fine.

But it's totally okay for kids to see that sort of thing if it's in a show aimed for boys, not girls. (This shit was all over GI Joe).

The other one was the ep with the fortune-teller youma, I believe. I remember there was a lot of green (I have the entire thing except for series R on VHS fan-subbed).

I fucking hated that because Rei was the last one to die and her death was unbelievably violent. That entire scene was just so much more powerful in the original because it showed how much she cared for Usagi even though they were always fighting with each other in everyday life

It's been a very long time since I saw either. I do know they compressed the last two episodes into one which ruined pretty much all of the drama (since a lot was cut for time). For example, the battle with Kunzite/Malachite was in the second to last episode, but in the DiC version, that episode and the final episode were one single episode. And all of the death scenes were edited to be less gory and bloody. IIRC they didn't even show Ami's death in the DiC version, at least I don't remember her destroying the youma's jewel with her little pocket computer like in the original version. Of course the music was different and some scenes in the original had no music or less intrusive music which again, added to the drama.

I believe Kunzite's battle episode was kept as one.

44 and 45 were compressed together though, and they really did a hackjob. I found it hilarious how they cut the scene where the girls' ghosts comfort Sailor Moon at the end of the first part, yet that scene is shown in the "Sailor Says" for the episode (with the wrong voices lip-synched to each character that provides a moral message). They definitely cut the death scenes down to where they just showed the ice towers popping up and an explanation that the girls got "captured" by the Negaverse. Yet when they were "freed" to help Sailor Moon, they were transparent like ghosts. Whoops.

The ending between Usagi and Mamoru got changed a ton too. They recycled the imaginary hospital scene from when she was trying to de-brainwash him, and slapped it on to the end of the episode as an actual scene, where "Serena" is a hospital volunteer.

I remember Ami smashing the edge of her computer into the youma's jewel in the Dic dub.
