I like her music, but she rides way too hard on this "I AM SUCH AN OUTCAST AND HARDCORE, EVEN THOUGH I AM A COOKIE CUTTER ROCK CHICK THAT GOT HER ATTITUDE OUT OF A 'HOW TO FIT CLICHE' BOOK, AND MAKE POP MUSIC FOR TEENAGE GIRLS!!"

I also found it amusing that in the "Fuckin Perfect" video, the main girl is scratching "skinny bitches" into a wall, but she's a fucking stick, herself.
But I guess whatever "prep" cliche is okay, even if it makes no sense for the main character to feel bad about.

Seriously, trying way too hard.
I guess I'll just have to wait until a song comes out about "Fuck the stupid emos in their stupid faces" to feel a bit of balance, here.

Lol! Well someone needs to calm down. In that Fucking Perfect music video, I thought that moment where she wrote "skinny bitches" wasn't really about how she's pretty slim herself, but that she hated herself for not fitting in the norm of what's considered skinny.

Maybe those girls found some ways to make her feel awful about her body, when there's nothing really awful to begin with. Maybe they think she's short, has bad hair, or her hips are too big, etc. If you're a teen, growing up and having popular peers who look down on you, you're going to think your body sucks, even though it's gorgeous. So maybe her way of being spiteful is by calling them "Skinny Bitches" and feeling very sorry for yourself. IT HAPPENS.

This song doesn't target everyone and the music video wasn't supposed to portray a different variety of girls, just one girl and her journey. It's just not your thing then.

The scene right after it, where she's on the scales, kind of makes me think that's what's supposed to be going on here, yeah.

I've found myself thinking "skinny bitches" (or things like) at people who piss me off by being all, for want of a better word, soap-opera pretty. And I liked my curves when I had them. Key here being "when", because I've lost more weight than I'd like over the last few months and I'm now skinnier than a lot of people. Not that I look it (yaaay, big bones!) but that's utterly beside the point even for a 4am ranty thing.

The point is, insults don't have to make sense for you to feel that way about someone. Hell, most insults don't make objective sense. It's not nice, and it's not sensible, but c'est la vie for you.

Plus I always assumed that section was about eating disorders, what with the scale scene right after.

As for P!nk riding on that cliche you mentioned that I don't feel the need to write out again... I don't think she does. I think a lot of her music is about being outcast and vulnerable and fighting back from it, but speaking as a (bad) poet, that's the kind of state where the lyrical juices start flowing - when you're angry and confused and lashing out, or when you feel lost, or when you feel like nobody understands you (ohdear, Fenris, your emokid is showing WOE IS ME FOR I AM LOST AND MISUNDERSTOOD AND PATHOLOGICALLY INCAPABLE OF NOT BEING TONGUE-IN-CHEEK) - most musicians of worth have written their best songs about states like that. Look at Nina Simone, look at Leonard Cohen, look at The Who or Shinedown or Maria Mena or... /stops belabouring F!S with her musical tastes
