Maybe you just need some downtime from the fandom? I got that way between Seasons of Stargate sometimes, but always seemed more excited once the episodes actually started airing again.

There have been a ton of things I turned my friends on to that I then fall out of at some point. It happens. I'm sure your friends will understand and, if they don't, then they're not worth te effort to keep them. It's nice to share fandoms with friends but they should not be the only thing a friendship rests upon (unless they are purely a fandom friend, which is very different from a IRL friend).

Yeah this sort of happened to me while ago. Doctor Who is one of my favourite shows in the whole world, but for some reason during the David Tennant specials, I didn't watch them until they came out on DVD. I still loved the show I just fell out of the loop for a while.

I kind of feel the same way, Doctor Who no longer excites me. And that's nothing against Stephen Moffat he's one of my favorite writers, but i want him to scare me not give me fairytales.

If you still like the characters and the writer, you might not necessarily be falling out of love with the show. It's just hard to stay actively enthusiastic for months at a time on nothing but a couple of trailers. I haven't even seen the teaser, and I have no real desire to, but I know once the show itself is back on I'll be all over it. Just give it time and see if your enthusiasm returns with the new season.

And if not, if these people are your friends, not just people you know through fandom, then I'm sure you've got more in common with them than DW. :)

During the down months I get the same way. I haven't even watched the Christmas special yet (I know), but now that I've seen the trailer I'm going to have to, because I'm WAY excited.

I've been a Doctor Who fan for about 4 years now, and my interest in it has had distinctive waxes and wanes. Especially during the 2009 specials, I just had a hard time finding enthusiasm for it, but it's a lot easier to get obsessed with when new episodes are airing. And the cool thing about Doctor Who is the huge amount of stories it's got. Even during the off season, you can keep yourself busy watching classic Who or listening to Big Finish.

...yet I don't even dwell on it much. I fell out of the Fandom a while ago though I still adore it.

I havent watched any Dr. Who or Torchwood since 2009. I just couldn't bring myself to sit down and watch any of it.

I'm sorry OP...sometimes that happens. I agree with hako_neko - maybe you just need to step away from the Fandom for a little while. Then catch an ep and see if it recharges you!

No offense, but that sounds a lot like "disgruntled Tennant fangirl, angry that this season was different".

If your only experience with DW was the new show and all of your enthusiasm was linked to this one actor out of eleven, who played the doctor, you can't really call yourself a fan of the show. You were a fan of the actor.

DW was always more than just David Tennant, and I would be more than happy if his rapid fangirls would finally leave the fandom all together.

oh, please. my favorite Doctor is Nine, not Ten, and I'm not a RAPID FANGIRL (?) and I didn't like season 5. YEAH. Sorry.
