This is a lovely secret, anon :) I agree you should say something to her, just because she's a BNF doesn't mean she still won't appreciate hearing something like that, especially if its genuine (I know plenty of BNFs who are actually quite modest and insecure, and it means a lot to them to hear genuine expressions of friendship. And who cares what others think, you obviously value her friendship, and there's nothing wrong with that, nor should you be made to feel there is just because of some sort of perceived fannish 'status'.
