X-Men's movieverse Toad was pretty awesome.

Movie/comic Toad are my favorite incarnations. Honestly, I don't like Evo Toad. He just annoys me.

Badass British snark is where it's at. Plus, movie and comic Toad have so many more layers than the cartoons.

WHY IS THIS A A SECRET!?!?

Movieverse!Toad was pretty cool. Never had a strong liking for comic book!Toad, but that's just me. Evo!verse Toad was annoying, but then again they were all teenagers and every character was kind of annoying at one point in the series. Except maybe Kurt but that's just because I love Kurt in the general sense.

I just liked him because he always looked like Wes Borland to me. /Unhelpful

One of my personal pet peeves is when Americans call people from England "Brits". British people are English, Scottish, or Welsh. From the entirety of the big island. It is NOT interchangeable with English. (And the United Kingdom refers to England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Wales.)

But doesn't that mean people from England are also Brits? Like all squares are rectangles but not all rectangles are squares?

Yeah, that's true. However, they also say Scottish people as Scottish, even though Scottish people are Brits too. I'd personally prefer it if we got the honour of being specified as English.

But, then again, I'm just one small person out of millions of other tiny people who make up England. I can't change something that annoys me about millions of people in a much bigger country.

Besides, I don't think some people would like it if I called them Yanks, would they? It's practically the same problem.

I'm Scottish, and I like being called Brit. I don't know any English people who have a problem with 'Brit'.

So you dislike the original Toad in his weird ass jester get-up, too? This kind of reminds me of how people go "I'm a Draco Malfoy fan!!! But I hate it when people write him mean and shallow and cowardly in their stories!!!" uh. that's what he is. Toad is pathetic, that's his character. His codename is Toad jfc.

Sounds to me like you don't actually like Toad, just an OC that you've given Toad's skill set to, or (more likely) you just like this actor.

Toad in the film and Toad in the original comics are two completely different characters. He wasn't a toady in the film at all, so I don't see how the comparison to Draco fits. Also, after the movie, the comic incarnation started to look a lot more like the Ray Park version. The name applies more now to his appearance/abilities than his toady behavior towards Magneto.

You realize Toad has been around since the 60s right? That's over 50 years of established canon where he's been a toady, almost countless different reimaginings of the character where he's been toady, EXCEPT for the movie version. Don't you think it's a little odd to call yourself a Toad fan, and not only that, to randomly condemn two versions of the character that have fit in with every other version of the character? OP should just say that they like movie!Toad best and just leave it like that. Again, the entire point of his character is to be a toady for Magneto. If you don't like that you're going to be very, very disappointed.

So do you only like Toad in the movies or the Ultimate comic? Because that's really the only versions where he can really be called badass. Personally, I love all versions of him even though Wolverine and the X-Men is my favorite. (Sorry?)

Though I do agree with you on the British part. I would love for one of the cartoons to finally remember that he's supposed to be British.

I totally agree, but I can still see movie!Toad as the kind of person Evo!Toad grows into.

Figures on one of the days I'm off the computer, too. Man, I do love me some Mort--though I gotta be honest, I don't care what the incarnation is. Toad's an eternal loser one way or another, but that's what's so endearing about him. (Heck, in the House of M bit, he comes off as kind of cool. I remember in 198, he had this attitude of "I've seen all this crap so often I'm not even worried anymore. Whatever.")

I was pretty disappointed when they used his Ultimate design without giving him an English accent, though (although I guess it could've been worse--if he sounded like he does in X-Men Legends).

Or X-Men the Next Dimension. Eep.
