Baccano is one of my favorites too, but I always assumed that it just had a hard time finding an audience that resounded with it? With Durarara, it found a huge fanbase in the fujoshi realm and has done really well marketing to them, but Baccano just sort of floated around and didn't attach itself to any particular profitable target audience. I think that if they make a second series, they'll advertise it in fujoshi circles or something to try to grab some of that DRRR audience.

Also, it's really, really grossly violent and gory so that already alienates some people? Like I said, it's one of my faves, but I have a really hard time rewatching the middle episodes because I can't bear to watch the Rail Tracer doing his thing, it's so gross. :(

That's one of the reasons I preferred DRRR!. DRRR! had some violent moments, but B! was just absolutely, ridiculously gory. Brilliant story, but just a little over-the-top.

A big reason I think that a lot of people prefer DRRR! is probably because the characters are younger and more relatable. I remember when I watched B! the only character I could relate to was Jacuzzi lol. Also, from what I remember (I watched the series over a year ago so please don't attack me if I'm remembering incorrectly) B! doesn't have a lot of action until towards the end? DRRR! kind of has action and exciting suspense throughout.

I also personally prefer the urban setting because I felt it was more original compared to the whole steampunk thing of B! But anyway, I liked both *shrug*. B! does deserve more love and part of the reason I couldn't get more into it was because there wasn't much of a fandom and I lost interest the weeks following my watch.
