I recently went to my own 10 year high school reunion. And most of the people there were married with kids. All their stories were about their kids. Mine were about hiking the Appalachia trail twice. And going to Australia by myself for a month just to kick around. About working for an airline that flew all over the world and getting cheap rides anywhere and everywhere at the drop of a hat. About how being an aunt rocks because you're always 'the cool one', you get to spoil them rotten, you get to be a kid with them - and then you get to hand them back at the end of the day and stay up all night playing silly games on the internet.

I also talked about my dog.

And sure - those high school friends could still do all of those themselves. But what do you think the chances are that they will? And maybe I'll get married and have kids of my own someday too - but right now what I've got is pretty darn solid too. I'm finally enjoying my life because I'm doing it my way. As my friend that recently turned 30 said: '30 is when you stop caring what other people think and are finally comfortable in your own skin'.

Nothing wrong with running off to join the circus while you're young and coming back to start a family and kids later. And as for fandom... oh, OP, in mine at least we've got everything from middle aged moms, to teenagers, to grandmothers that are just discovering the joy of shipping. You're never too old for something that makes you happy.

Don't let it get you down. Questioning is normal but - rock on, OP. You've got plenty of time and an entire world to explore. If your former classmates are happy being married with kids - be glad they're happy. And than go do whatever makes you happy too. The only life you should measure your success by is your own.
