I cannot emphasise enough the importance of a good beta. Don't be precious about your writing. Find someone who will rip your story apart if necessary to make it better, who doesn't let you get away with just posting it after one rewrite because you're sick of it. I've finally found someone like this and it has improved my writing out of sight. She once made me rewrite a story three times. I was sick as fuck of the whole thing but she was right and it ended up one of the stories I'm most proud of.

And I suggest posting on Archive of our Own, if you don't already. It's where all the people I know go to find rare fandoms. Sadly, the rare fandoms will never get a lot of comments because not many people will read them, but hell, those few will be grateful as hell you wrote fic for them!
