I'm just sad that the Lacoon Children's series will never be finished, though I didn't like it as much as Stealing Harry. I've never read any of his other stuff.

Hey, I get that. I have personally loved stories by him, but I've also read one where he hits several of my storytelling-squicks, which made me love him less.

It also took me a while to get over my prejudice against people who read/write RPF (but now I sometimes even dabble :/). So I feel you. But I do also think if you like his writing in a certain pairing it shouldn't really matter what else he ships, should it.

honestly i felt disappointed in him for CG. at first i was all "lol this character is similar to you, how goofy" but then it got annoying. when i read the reveal, my reaction was more "argh, /really/?" than anything

Oh, please. RPF isn't immoral. Get over it, and read something you do like. Meanwhile, I haven't read anything by this guy, but I do occasionally stumble over his entries on my f-flist, and he seems like a genuinely nice person. He's popular, and he's confident about his writing, but that doesn't make him "full of himself" (which people seem to conflate; I've been a well known writer in several fandoms and I've gotten that shit, too, despite the fact I always go out of my way to be nice to people). Given his LJ popularity, he could be a total douchebag, which he doesn't appear to be.

Ever heard of historical fiction, anon? Same fucking thing. Hell, Jeff Greenfield's new book Then Everything Changed includes alternate histories about the Kennedys, and he fucking knew those guys.

It's hard for me to imagine losing respect for someone over RPF, unless their fic was really creepy or disrespectful. I'm not a fan of RPF as a rule, but I see it as a difference in taste more than a moral issue.
