(Anonymous) 2011-04-14 09:01 pm (UTC)(link)I have a cousin that has AS, and he is one of the kindest sweetest kids. He does say and do a lot of things that are not usually socially acceptable, but it's more of him being a really close talker, hugging everyone he meets, having no idea of "normal" social boundaries, telling overly personal stories that most people would keep to themselves. That type of thing. I don't think he has ever done anything that would be considered being an asshole, except maybe talk about secrets or private things that most people would not bring up. However, if you specifically tell him that something is private, he will not bring it up. He's just kind of unaware if you don't point some things out.
So, there. One claim of AS that does not read as Self-Important Asshole.
