I can't believe this thread. People, part of being on the autistic spectrum is a lack of awareness that what you're doing isn't socially acceptable until someone tells you so. If you're capable of recognizing that what you're doing isn't socially acceptable, then you either have seriously, seriously mild ASD (more mild than mine, and my case is VERY mild -- and not Asperger's) or you don't have it at all.

It's not "people don't like how I'm acting bawwwwww I must be Asperger's," it's "I have no idea why people don't like me and augh my HEAD HURTS let me go in my room and be alone and sit and do my obsessive thing until it stops hurting and I stop hating myself", more often than not.

Yes. I'm with this secret. It's offensive to me that neurotypicals would try and say that their social discomfort based on feeling othered has anything to do with the way my nervous system lights up and burns every single time I'm in a room full of people.

Some of you may actually be ASD, and in that case, ♥ to you all. Best to get it diagnosed so you can get the help you need, no matter the cost. I find it near impossible to get through full job interviews, but having a diagnosed disability allows me to get vocational help. I seriously recommend diagnosis if you can manage it.

-Part of this thread is also.
Self diagnosis =/= actually having the disorder.

Now of course some self diagnosed people WILL have it, but if you're using it as an excuse for bad behaviour (and you're actually neurotypical to begin with) it's not a-ok.

-As someone who's had a 4 year relationship with someone with Asperger, I can pretty much tell which type of 'social fail' is associated with it. Sure, people can differ, but I'd if I'd have to describe it, it has more to do with seeming cold because it's hard to tell people's emotions and intentions...but that'snot the same as assholism.
Calling women dub bitches (like earlier in this thread) is not excusable behaviour, even if you do have a diagnosis, because frankly that's just being willfully bashful.
