Okay, first I'm going to count to ten so I don't scream, cry, or use the kind of language I frown on.

Here's a HUGE DIFFERENCE between having an actual, accurate diagnosis of Asperger's Syndrome and being a 'Self-Important Asshole'-- It's called an ACTUAL NEUROLOGICAL DIFFERENCE, YOU SELF-IMPORTANT ASSHOLE*!

Many people with AS or HFA (High-Functioning Autism) do try to change or fit in, but we don't know how. Social graces don't come naturally to us, and we screw it up a lot. It's hard work to be sociable, but many of us put in that work. It's physically exhausting, but we do our best, because we live in the world, and while it's not unreasonable to expect the people around us to make some changes and have some understanding, we need to make changes, too.

*Because yeah, stating your opinion as absolute truth when you clearly haven't worked with a wide range of people on the Autism spectrum makes you kind of self-important, and while I agree that there are a lot of people making self-diagnosed claims who are just excusing their jerkish behaviour, getting down on the developmentally disabled makes you a pretty huge jerk yourself.

That anon probably just wants to rile people up and see them get angry and hurt. What a jackass.

I'm not on the autism spectrum, but I also get a lot of "your condition isn't serious and even though I don't have it and I'm not a doctor, I will tell you exactly what it's like!" I am so so so so so sick of that kind of thing.

I won't tell you not to be upset or to feel better, because this kind of thing IS really angering and it IS really unjust, but for what it's worth, you're making an effort to be kind and to understand people who aren't like you, and the troll is not. They do not have the moral high ground here.
