I don't really care who thinks they have what so long as they're not intentionally cruel people. Well, in my day, the label was Minimal Brain Damage. Ineffective and inaccurate. Cut to my nephew's diagnosis and forming a close bond to my nephew and memories of my own childhood seeping back. I knew I was like my nephew for years before I was like myself. Does that count as a self-diagnosis? I don't know. I said I suspected I was on the spectrum if the subject of autism came up. It wasn't an excuse. When people called me out for anything, I said I'M SORRY I'M SORRY I'M SORRY. I still do. I was very abused growing up, as are many on the autism spectrum. Please show kindness. You never know where someone is coming from.
