I worked there for about four years. I've been in merchandise at MK, I've been a performer, and I've worked in attractions at MK and DAK.
I left the company last year because I got tired of the drama and the stress and the backstabbing and the horribly low pay. Even knowing about all of that that going in, after four years, it was all just too much.
I still love Walt Disney World with all my heart. I went back to visit last month, and it was still incredible and magical. I met some amazing friends there, and made some of the best memories of my life. But at the same time, I can't see myself going back there to work unless it was for the job of a lifetime (and that certainly isn't a front-line attractions job that any person with a pulse who's over 18 and walks into Casting can get).
Bottom line: if you have a goal with the company and the background/ability to reach it, go for it! Opportunities are there, but you have to be willing to do whatever it takes to get them. Be prepared for a WHOLE lot of crap thrown your way - from guests, from other CMs, from management. But if you can put up with that... free Walt Disney World for as long as you work there. That is an incredible gift.
