I agree with pretty much everything you said.

Does it bother you as well that people claim she's just "settling" because she can't be with the Doctor? People tend to say that about a lot of the companions as far as I can see.

Yea that always bugs me. As if the Doctor is the be all and end all of amazing. As we saw with Martha's season, a life traveling with the Doctor can very well ruin your life and the lives of those around you. And sometimes it's not what you want or need, even though you get to see such amazing things.

It's kind of sad when you think about it-- Sarah Jane, Jo Grant, Rose, Martha. All of these people had their lives and expectations almost destroyed by traveling with him. If anything, Donna had it good in the end. She had her life back.

MAN, DOCTOR WHO IS DARK.

Pretty much. It's exactly like Sarah Jane said- he gave you all those amazing things and then just expected you to go back to a normal life, as if it's the easiest thing. He pretty much uses them to satisfy his desire for companionship and he gets to decide when that's over and he can just move on without saying anything or being held accountable. I've always said, the Doctor is a manipulative bastard.

That's why I always like it when old companions reappear-- because we get hit with a sense of "IT'S NOT ALWAYS ADVENTURE AND DANGER." It makes the characters (and oddly enough, The Doctor) feel real. Like these are real relationships and they have to deal with the awkwardness of it.

Did you ever watch The Death of the Doctor from Sarah Jane Adventures? The way Jo spent her entire life adventuring just to find him again and trying to measure up broke my heart.

I haven't watched any of SJA yet. I'm planning to but have no idea where to get my hands on the eps.

SJ's returned on DW pretty much brings me to tears every time and I never even watched the eps when she was with the Doctor. Seeing SJ and then seeing the Doctor talk to Rose about what it's like...heartbreaking

I can probably help you track down some Torrents if you'd like? ~~The show is incredibly slow and cheesy, but the Doctor Episodes are great and Lis Sladen is always amazing.~~

That was my first exposure to Sarah Jane. It was incredibly intense and brought some good well-deserved drama to the characters and the show itself.

That would be great (although I'll admit that I have no idea how to make Torrents work. I've tried a million times with no luck).

I recommend using a program called "Bit Comet." It's fairly easy to manage your torrents. All you do is click on the torrent link and it will open in the program. You're able to choose which files you want to download (if it's a batch torrent with multiple files; otherwise you just have the one) and where you want them located on your computer.
