If you want people to talk about the characters you love then stir some fucking interest! I know what it's like to love something no one else does but dissing popular characters is not going to work.

I'm generally totally into the main characters, because they tend to be the best developed.

But then again, the Naruto fandom drives me batty, since I love just about every character. So every single aspect of fandom frustrates me.

I'm not in the Naruto fandom, but in the Tales of series fandoms there's a huge fanbase for the side characters amongst my friends that kind of scares me because I think that they secretly resent my love for the main characters.

Then again I'm hilariously paranoid. :')

Because the main characters are EVOL OMG!! They steal all the attention away from the OMG SO MUCH COOLER WONDERFUL CHARACTERS WHO MAY OR MAY NOT ACTUALLY BE MORE INTERESTING THAN THE MAIN ONES and anyone who likes them is a BIG DUMB SHALLOW NEWBIE!
