That's one of the best openings ever, NGL. I don't blame you; the music's amazing. Very stirring.

Now I want to rewatch this movie just to revel in the amazingness that is the opening sequence. I do have to say that the beginning of the Broadway show is even more breathtaking.

I've never been a big fan of the Lion King, but don't feel heartless. I don't think there's a Disney movie I've seen (and do like) that's ever made me cry.

I just recently watched it again, loved the intro, and found the rest of the film pretty bad. :/ I feel like I just insulted my childhood.

I was listening to this when I read this secret:

It's the first time I hear Lion King music in years.

I think it's hard for something to affect you the same way for years and years. The first times you view things are the most powerful.

(Anonymous) 2011-04-24 12:26 am (UTC)(link)
Meh I don't think you're heartless. You've just outgrown that sad making art? Or like what makes you cry is different now. Or youve seen it too many times. It's nothing to worry about.

Aw, it's fine, OP.
Sometimes watching something multiple times takes the emotional impact out for me. I still enjoy it, but it doesn't leave me crying anymore. I can't be alone on that.

I used to cry at seriously -everything- when I was younger, and now I can count the movies/plays/shows/etc. that have made me cry in the past- maybe eight or nine years?- on both hands. But I don't think I'm heartless, I just.. direct my emotions at different things.

I think what I'm saying here is don't worry about it, OP.

(Anonymous) 2011-04-24 03:51 pm (UTC)(link)
I used to cry at the song at the end of episodes of The Raccoons...

~Run with us, we've got everything you nee-ee-eed~

;_;

And at Rolf Harris's 'Two Little Boys', but then I heard that again yesterday for the first time in like 10 years, and I had to go sit quietly by myself because I got ALL CHOKED UP again, and it would have been really embarrassing to explain. When I was a teenager it was fine, but now... those last two lines! I don't know why, but Rolf Harris actually manages to turn what starts out as cheese into something devastating.

~Did you think I would leave you dying
When there's room on my horse for two?
Climb up here, Joe, we'll soon be flying
Back to the ranks so blue.
Do you know, Joe, I'm all a-tremble,
Perhaps it's the battle's noise;
But I think it's that I remember
When we were two little boys. ~

But yeah, everything made me cry as a child, especially if it involved music. Then it stopped affecting me as a teenager, and I was worried. Now it seems to have come back.

Me too! Never ever got upset when Mufasa died - but the opening sequence's just so, so pretty. I've seen it too many times to cry now - I don't feel heartless, I still appreciate it; it just doesn't surprise me anymore.
