(Anonymous) 2011-04-24 10:58 pm (UTC)(link)Though depending on the artist and their chosen medium, there's also other traditional art media which are never cheap (paints, decent brushes, cheap pads for practice as well as nicer pads for the finished work, light tables, inks, scanners), or digital (the much-coveted Cintiq which never runs for under $2000, or the still-pricey tablets if you can't afford that, various art software which definitely doesn't come with any computer unless you like the Paint program, and if you're going for something like Adobe CS5, that's going to need a computer with a better than average processor just so you can get the program up and running).
The ability of the fanartist to make money on their work at all may very well just be the thing to help them break even LOL
