because human emotions work in odd ways? don't slam them for being "in love" with someone, even though they are probably getting their character's feelings mixed up for their own.

it's entirely possible to be in love (or be "in love") with someone without knowing them at all.

No, it's really not. Loving someone you don't know has more to do with loving the 'idea' of them, or loving whatever you think they are. That's not the same as loving the actual person.

To be perfectly honest, if you have to ask someone to let you get to know them, then you're not in love with *them*. You're in love with the idea of them. Not the same thing.

I know it might seem romantic to you, and I won't say that relationships can't form between rp partners. They can, and yes, they can last...but the difference between that, and what's going on here is that in those they get to know each other before dating, outside of rp.

Exactly. You shouldn't neglect your boyfriend for an RPer you know nothing about OP--unless they're being abusive toward you or something, and in that case this is still a bad idea and you just need to get out of that relationship rather than chase after people you don't even know.

I was tempted to say "your boyfriend deserves better," but honestly that won't be right because I don't know him. Still, I'd say you might want to sort things out with him, because clearly something isn't working.

But on a slightly different note, you don't know your RP partner either, from what you said in the secret. You're simply in love with the idea of this person in your mind who RPs and likes Homestuck. I can't help being judge-y and wanting to tell you this isn't love. Not even close.

I'm not sure I'd say that you were exactly judging them - mainly based on the fact they all but admit they don't know the person their confessing to 'love' and well...you can't really love someone you don't know.
