It depends on the fandom, or even communities you're in. Some fandoms are full of nice, mature, fun people, and the few idiots are easily ignored. Other fandoms consists of hysterical, whiny bitches (before someone jumps at me, I mean bitches of all genders), who dogpile you for your pairing, favourite character, whatever. Like you, I got extremely lucky in my choice of fandoms for over 10 years now, I was always in comms with virtually no wank - the worst we got were occasional heated arguments, but nobody over held a real grudge after that. As long as you stay away from wanky fandoms, no, you're not a statistical anomaly. Just a lucky person who always likes fandoms with cool fans. ;)
