Well, I like all the ships, though Jeff/Annie and Britta/Annie are probably my favorite. So yeah, I should just stay away from this fandom and just read some fics now and then.

Eh. Mostly you just need to stay away from the anon meme. It is a wretched hive of scum and villainy (well, sometimes it's awesome, but only if you ignore all of the shipping wank, which is...hard, to say the least). The main comm is normally pretty nice and fun.

(Of course, I'm mostly in it for the Troy/Abed, which is probably the least hated on ship in the fandom, so I may be missing things).

Lol. To be fair, it's not a bad idea to stick with your gut on this one. The Jeff/Annie vs. Jeff/Britta wank does get pretty crazy on the meme, so I have to imagine it spills out elsewhere.

You know, that's a good point. It would be way too real to actually be done. I mean, they already have so many moments and they tease about it so much that making a Gravity montage that everybody would be like, "nothing new there!"

Exactly! In that respect, Abed/Pierce was a great choice, since they have some of the fewest interactions of anyone on the show.

(Also, Troy/Abed wouldn't have made their point, since so many people's reaction would be "yeah, exactly they're in love).

Secrets on FS are never the best way to get a sense of a fandom, because they're all people expressing their frustration. But I agree with the others—stick to the main comm, stay away from the anon meme until you've been in the fandom for a while and know what things you want to avoid, and you should be fine.

I feel you, OP. I don't know, sometimes Annie worshippers (?) just... don't seem to have fun. It's like they only watch scenes with Annie, and then remove all the humor in them. It's kinda sad.

It's so weird, this thing with sitcom shippers where they want to bleed all the comedy out of the show, where their fics are super duper angsty, and the only thing they care about in the whole show is their ship being canon. Barney/Robin, Sheldon/Penny, I know it's some of the same people but it's just really weird how it keeps happening.

Yeah, it's really weird. Someone who watchs a sitcom only for romance will probably be pissed off, right? I don't get the point...

(oh, and other thing I forgot to say: in addition to Jeff-and-Annie-romance-moments being considered the only ones which matter, some of the Annie worshippers - yeah, I can't come with other definition, "fan" is not exactly what I mean...! - have a tendency on hating Britta that is kinda annoying.)

This is such a weird concept to me, because while Annie is technically my favorite, it's only because she reminds me of myself a lot. I also adore Britta, Shirley, Abed, and Troy (and sometimes the other two get good moments too) and I literally don't see how you could watch the show just mining for ~dramatic moments~ or with an eye for srs bsns shipping...

HEEEEE I'm the total opposite

I got into Mad Men only, idk, a month ago and Trudy is always Annie in my brain. (it doesn't help that they're so similarly highstrung sort of ladies) whenever anyone on the show says "Trudy" unless they're speaking directly to her I have a brief moment of "who?"
