Lol I feel like that's a really tiny detail compared to the overall messages that book has to offer? A lot of that book can't be taken seriously, too, so I guess I don't see why the OP is really into that ONE detail and taking it so seriously.

Psst...Good Omens doesn't dictate gender roles or perceptions in society.

No, but Good Omens was written by two men who might be subconsciously buying into the societal assumption that being male is the human default, and women are the Other.

Although that's a valid point, from reading Gaiman's works (like Anansi Boys or The Sandman) you can tell that he's not one that gets carried away by social assumptions...

Yeah, and if you read some of Pratchett's other stuff (Monstrous Regiment comes to mind) it's obvious that he thinks of women as human and equal to men.

I think the poster below has a point that everyone tends to default to their own perspective, and it's something that's difficult to get over.

Alternatively, they could be two men who default to the male perspective because they themselves are male.

I have this problem in the opposite direction (am a woman, tend to default to the female perspective when I write).

I do the same.

It's especially hard when I'm writing original male characters, because there is no template to copy from (unlike writing pre-existing characters for fanfiction), so a lot of my male characters come off as feminine, which is rarely my intention :/
