But when they are raising Warlock aren't one of them at least once female?

Don't have the book at hand so can't look it up.

Also, don't really know what I want to say with this argument (if it even is a argument) just thought I should throw it out there...

I think what's going on their is that their sending other people who are on their 'side' in to influence Warlock, not actually going in and influencing him themselves. Iirc that's why they had to kind of 'sneak in' as party workers on the birthday that Dog/the hellhound was supposed to show up on, instead of already being there.

I haven't read the book in a while though, so I could be wrong, but that's how I remember it going down. @_@

When I first read the book as a kid I also thought Crowley had genderswitched himself to be Warlock's nanny. As an adult I am less sure of this reading though.

I think they were just humans on either side working on their behalf. Crowley and Az only intervene during the birthday party :)
