1. Autistic people can be pretty damn cool you know; it doesn't prevent you from achieving max coolness, or whatever. So you shouldn't worry about hypothetical autism compromising anyone's coolness!

2. This is none of your business (: I have not discussed spectrum disorders on lj as of yet, as far as I can remember, and I don't feel comfortable sharing that information with random anonymous strangers.

Hrmmm.... pirates and octopodes.

Have you read East Coast Rising, by any chance? It's a comic in a sort of American manga format, done by Becky Cloonan, whose art is among my high ranks.

Go chase it down! There's pretty good odds of it being in a library (I've seen it around) and if you can't find it there, you shouldn't have much trouble finding it at your friendly neighborhood comic book shop. I'm not sure if I'm remembering the octopodes correctly, but I'm POSITIVE it has pirates.

Also, "Polly and the Pirates" by Ted Naifeh. Again, not sure about the octopodes, but it's a kickass cute little gothy story in pirateland, so you might like that too.
