Seriously, if I had access to more games/VN like 999, I would. But as mentioned, 999 is the most accessible and it's easier to bring around a DS than a laptop. And it should be pretty obvious that THAT's the reason why 999 is more popular.

I think comparing 999 and Ever 17 is a bit too much though. It's like comparing Harry Potter with other books that uses witches and wizards. Sure there may be similarities in terms of certain characters and/or storylines, but they're still different stories all in all.

Hm, it's not only the backstory that is similar here, though. The endings and the characters are also very similar, imo.

Again, as I mentioned earlier, certain aspects are definitely similar. But they are still different stories. It's just not worth comparing cause the moment you do, you WILL feel dissatisfied cause you will have expectations or you'll think it just doesn't compare to the first one you saw.

Look, it's fine if you think Ever 17 was better. I have a feeling I may agree with you too. But I think dissing 999 by comparison is just not worth it, especially since you seem pretty aware of the fact that it's hard to get a hold of Ever 17 now. Even looking for a download can be tricky especially for those who have never downloaded a VN before.
