I find it hilarious that people got in a fuss about it. I wasn't in the fandom before the manga came out, but I'm sure that people were getting on find with the idea of a self-named character before then; it shouldn't be so hard to grasp now. Casual fans probably don't even know the Souji name.

Waiiit, don't like.. ALL The SMT characters have majorly conflicting names? I think I've heard a COUPLE canon-ish sources for what Minato's name is, for example. (You know, the mangas and novels and all that.)
