I agree, definitely!

Unfortunately there are quite a few people who wouldn't consider the timeline and characterization issues, and might flame the author if they referred to Grell as a male in the narrative. I think that most Kuroshitsuji characters would do that simply because they're enormous jerks, so it wouldn't necessarily be out of author's disrespect. And of course there are RL jerks who would do it out of disrespect.

Most of the characters in this series are assholes and most of them would probably misgender Grell, either deliberately out of malice, or unintentionally out of ignorance. Undertaker would probably get it right and so would maybe Ronald (after getting it explained to him) or Madame Red, but I don't know about everyone else. Maybe Will could get over his asshole tendencies too, but not likely. (His preferred pronoun for Grell is "That", so, uh.)
