Frankly, I'm not content to play the game of "sit around and wait to see if maybe Moffat decides to give some kind of a reasoning for any of this bullshit before I allow myself to make even the smallest of judgments about the character." I find her obnoxious and Sue-ish now, and Moffat has had an entire season and a half (counting SitL/FoD and the current season as roughly "half" here) to let me know why I shouldn't think she's an obnoxious, awful Sue with no redeeming features, and he hasn't managed or bothered to do so.

If it turns out later there's some justification for some of her bullshit... then I'll have been wrong about that, but that doesn't mean she hasn't been obnoxious and Sue-ish at this point in the story. It's still Sue-ish if there's an explanation, because at this time, there isn't one. And the obnoxiousness isn't going away anytime soon.

If he did that, it seems like he'd be jumping straight through his plot. The Doctor finds not knowing just as annoying and tedious as we do and I think that's the point.

I guess Sue is just a term that I withhold until the story is over. Obnoxious and annoying are ones that I have no problem with assigning. But I feel like I can't say a character is a Sue until I've seen all of them and the story is complete :/

Yeah, I get what you mean. I guess it's just a difference of opinions and feelings here. I don't feel like his explaining things away later will change anything -- I feel that even if he manages to "excuse" some of her behavior now, later, it won't change her being a Mary Sue, to me, because she'll still have those traits. She'll still be that person, and have the traits I feel are Sue-ish, even if he manages to give reasons for them; plenty of thirteen year old fangirls manage to find "reasons" for their self-insert Mary Sues to have the magical special powers they do, and they're still Sues.

IDK, IDK. It's a thing. So many ~things~, lol.

I keep wanting (and sometimes saying it), 'hey, maybe we're supposed to be going on this journey WITH the Doctor."

Then again I find knowing every single little thing about a persons motivations and history to be boring, it's fun trying to figure it out and go 'maybe it was this, or this'. That's why people enjoy talking about it [seriously the fun and wacky theories we've been floating around this week about the kid have been awesome]. I personally like that every time we meet her their relationship changes and grows and we get a little bit more of what she's experienced.

Plus I absolutely hate people calling characters Sue because in my mind most of the people they call Sue's in fiction are definitely not Sue's and it's just become like girls calling other girls bitches. It's petty. You can dislike a character, but just because you dislike them, does not make them a Sue [it's that and men get let off so much easier then the women with that label].
