Glad that came out right. And I'm not saying that BB is like, Nabokov's Lolita or anything (Although there are plenty of people who Missed the Point of that too), but it does sort of have the whole fucked up relationship as told by an unreliable narrator thing, and who would be a more unreliable narrator than a charming, smart, manipulative Devil who claims he never lies (and yet is very efficient at exploiting loopholes to avoid telling the truth)? Either Sebastian or Ciel would have us believe that their contract is fair, for entirely different reasons (Ciel because he's naive and to an extent just to reassure himself of his decisions being correct; Sebastian because he's very good at convincing people of whatever he needs to in order to get his meal)

Get past that lens, though and it's clear that they're not equals, and Sebastian is a fucking bastard. (Well, as much as you can call a Devil a bastard, since he's not human and functions on a different plane of morality entirely) The series (and especially the fanon) doesn't always succeed in accurately portraying that spirit, but what it hints at is interesting at least.

(The whole trope of romantic or sexual relationships as inherently being connected to predator-prey dynamics is also worth deconstructing and messing around with, imo, starting with the fact that canon is suggestive with it, and fandom immediately jumps on the romance/sex assumption. Again, I don't know if that's what canon was going for, and that's definitely not what most SebaCiel canon is knowingly doing, but again, it's interesting to play around with)

Repetition is not a problem at all. :)

I find that I don't have much more to say than what I said in my original response, to be honest. You're absolutely spot on in the analysis of their relationship--although it does amuse me on some level that Sebastian has to stoop down to a very human plane and act as a servant, doing menial tasks. By no means does that make their relationship at all equal--in fact, it only enhances the illusion that Ciel has more control, which he doesn't--but it's strangely satisfying all the same.

The contract is not fair, equal, or balanced. You could make an argument for it being beautiful in its twistedness, but not in a of romantic way. That's my opinion.

The whole trope of romantic or sexual relationships as inherently being connected to predator-prey dynamics is also worth deconstructing and messing around with, imo, starting with the fact that canon is suggestive with it.

I agree with this wholeheartedly. I've have been writing a series of fics which deal with this aspect in a roundabout manner by making Sebastian and Claude common humans, and the results are both scary and interesting. It's definitely a theme worth pursuing in canon as well.

I'll be able to respond in kind (aka more coherently) when I'm not typing on my cell phone, but you've basically hit on the entire reason I write Sebastian and Ciel as a pairing in the first place.
