I recently joined that comm, and I have no idea about any of this.

Don't worry, we're a chill comm. :) This "massive drama" is really just about three or four people who like to blow everything out of proportion/are overly sensitive (this is fandom, for crying out loud). There are 430 other people in the comm who have no problems! You'll be fine.

Maybe the other people are chill, but your owner is coming across like an insane dictator. Frankly, I'd be uneasy there, like I could never completely relax and participate without watching my back.

The thing is, she's not. The details that have been left out here are that the person who's been banned was super nice to Lori in her doll comms and was using her info, but was making nasty posts about her in her journal. One of their mutual friends saw this and felt that Lori needed to know, and that was why this person got kicked out. It really has nothing to do with Monster High or being a community dictator, but of misleading appearances. And the thing is, she never even came to Lori asking her about/sharing her concerns- she just bitched about them, while still pretending to be okay with Lori.

That shit don't fly with Lori.

Personal business =/= community business. That's like Moderating 101. As long as the community is running smoothly, personal feelings are just that, personal.

It's bad business to be mixing personal and community, because then everyone's gotta watch their back and it disrupts community morale.

And don't even try to tell me that person leaking f-locked information did a good thing. Eff that. That is some grade A bullshit right there. You do not do that. Ever.

This. This is the main reason I left the com. I didn't feel comfortable knowing that encouraging this sort of thing is going on.

I feel bad for the people involved, on both sides, but, when it comes down to it, I just don't feel very safe there anymore, knowing that what I post to a mutual friend's journal page might get leaked somewhere.

I may miss out on some awesome info in the process, and some cool photos, but, well, I'm going to have to live with that. I've done it in the past, with other things, and I've been perfectly okay. Doesn't mean I still can't enjoy the dolls themselves, and find a group of people more in line with my philosophies of civilized internet behavior to enjoy them with.

I have no problem with that banning, actually. But in the thread right above, where she bans someone for reasonably and openly expressing disagreement to her face as she requested? That's the part that seems like a dictator-mod. Like what?

don't worry, you should be fine as long as you never ever express an opinion about the mod that she doesn't like, because then she'll show her ass about you and her "friends" with gather around her and drop trou going "LOOK WE CAN SHOW ASS WE'RE STILL YOUR FRIENDS AREN'T WE."

or, make sure you express that opinion and don't share friends with her, because true friends tell about f-locked posts.

This. Just from watching the homophobia being winged around in the Disney Fairies comm, I ducked the hell out. Yes, maybe it wasn't personally directed at me but I have to deal with that shit in my everyday life, I didn't need to deal with it in fandom too.

I'd recommend

go_monsterhigh instead because the moderator there is level-headed and I don't think she's thrown a hissy fit in her entire life.

oh puhleaze she most certainly has, she smack talks all kinds of people (like the other mods of her com as just one example) in ways which almost seem to directly breed drama.

You seem to be making a lot of assumptions about somebody and about my friendship with her since you don't know me at all. How peculiar. It must make you feel very brave to post anonymously, but maybe you're just young and confused.

What? The other mods on communities where she is a mod are also on her flist...your argument is invalid.

The mod is a homophobic douchebag. Apparently lesbian relationships are "too sexual and explicit" even when they're not, but straight relationships without explicit sex are okay!
