1. It "still wouldn't be enough" for Utena, who has done...exactly what to deserve the ending you would have preferred for her? You have failed to list exactly what is is that Utena "got away with". Even if I try looking at her in the worst light possible, I can't see her ever deserving any of that.

2. Anthy was thinking and feeling and worrying all along. You're totally wrong for treating her like a mindless doll.

Sooo this was probably a troll secret anyway, but oh well.

from the moment she met anthy, utena was concerned only with doing what SHE thought was right and not what WOULD be right for anthy. she constantly pushed anthy out of her comfort zone because she "needed" friends, a social life, to be a normal girl. she manipulated her into saying that she didn't like being manipulated, and took her at her word. she was a huge hypocrite in almost everything she did and said to anthy, and even at the very end she made everything all about her.

she used the rose bride more than anyone else, all in the name of pretending that she wasn't.

Nooo I rather think that Akio used the Rose Bride more than anyone else. That fact should be obvious.

But about Utena, I don't think it's a clear cut case of her being the worst of the duel victors. Anthy tried to behave in the way she thought the engaged wanted. With Saionji it was saying that she wanted to be his, putting up with physical abuse, acting as if she had no will of her own.

The way Utena behaved was a problem, but it was one where Utena realised her own mistake and left it behind. I don't agree that she made it all about her at the end: I think that by that point she had become a true heroine, rather than someone acting like a prince and shoehorning Anthy into what she believed her to be. Either way, it doesn't exactly seem like a good reason to have her stabbed with swords of hate for eternity. Anthy certainly didn't like it much.
