I don't know...I was never completely convinced that Madoka liked Homura that way (although I could see it on Homura's end). I would've been happier to see something for Sayaka and Kyouko myself.

Word of "God" has said they would've ended up as a couple under different circumstances, if what I've heard is correct.

You heard wrong. Some guy in Nitro+ said that, but Urobochi and Shinbo didn't say shit about it. I have absolutely nothing against Sayaka/Kyouko, but I find it ironic for someone to think that it has more possibilities of being canon than Madoka/Homura.

You basically said this:

That implies that you think that somehow Sakaya's feelings for Kyouko were any more romantic than Madoka's feelings for Homura; I find it hard for someone to actually hold that opinion when Sayaka's feelings of camaraderie for Kyouko weren't even one-quarter as strong as strong as Madoka's feelings of friendship for Homura.

I'm sorry that it seemed I implied that--I don't think Sayaka's feelings for Kyouko's are any more romantic than Madoka's feelings for Homura. I just find Sayaka and Kyouko more interesting as a ship overall, and since romance doesn't seem to be on Madoka's mind at all I have a harder time shipping her with anyone in the cast than I do with Sayaka.

That's not to say that I find the Madoka/Homura ship BAD in any way--the subtext is there, and there's plenty of reason for people to ship them. I just don't find Madoka/Homura--as a mutual thing--completely "canon", so when it comes down to which pairing I'd rather see become canon, it's the one I have more interest in. Neither pairing is more valid than the other.
